Combined Course Titles and Descriptions

The Zimmer Institute will be offering new courses in 2010 that combine the Medical Education and BioSkills Training course formats. Zimmer Institute courses are designed around a small-group, interactive model of learning. Participants are assigned to a faculty member and a table for group discussion throughout the course.  A high faculty-to-participant ratio allows for more interaction with faculty members.  Trainers use a facilitator’s guide to lead the discussion, with every participant being provided with a curriculum guide containing cases, product information and presentation materials as a take-home reference.  In addition to didactic lecture, faculty members take participants through case reviews, surgical video reviews and hands-on exercises at their discussion tables and in sawbones labs.  Monitors and telestrators at each table enable participants to interact with the course content and share information with their table or the entire class.  Participants will also experience hands-on cadaveric training through a facilitator-led demonstration.   Each participant will both perform the procedure and assist another surgeon.
